In October 2021, China exported 3.22 million tons of fertilizer

Preliminary statistics of China Customs show that from January to October of 2021, China exported 29.332 million tons of various bulk element fertilizers (including ammonium chloride, potassium nitrate and animal and plant organic fertilizers), up 25.7% year on year.The export value increased 94.2 percent year-on-year to $10.094 billion.

Among them, the export of fertilizer in October 3.219 million tons, a year-on-year decline of 5.2%.The amount of fertilizer export in that month was us $1.361 billion, up 65.1% year on year.

In terms of imports, China imported 7.810 million tons of fertilizers from January to October 2021, with a year-on-year decrease of 12.8%.The cumulative import value was us $2.263 billion, down 7.8% year on year.

Among them, the import of 683,000 tons of fertilizer in October, a year-on-year decline of 15.5%;The import value of the month was us $239 million, up 22.8% year on year.

The National Development and Reform Commission and other departments have introduced a series of measures to ensure the supply and price of domestic chemical fertilizers, explicitly stating that chemical fertilizer producers enjoying preferential treatment of energy use, raw material supply, environmental protection and emission reduction, and phosphogypsum stockpiling should give priority to ensuring the supply of domestic market.Since October 15, all chemical fertilizer varieties except ammonium sulfate have been included in the catalogue of export legal inspection.

In order to ensure domestic supply, China has phased in reducing fertilizer exports, leading to supply tightness in some countries.In the case of automotive urea, Korea is planning to submit a diplomatic consultation with Korea as it cannot find an alternative source of imports.

Currently, China Customs classifies all fertilizer grade urea and non-fertilizer grade urea (including solution) into legal inspection according to tariff classification.
